Joysagar: The All Tai Ahom Students’ Union and the Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad Assam have sharply criticized the State Archeological authorities for their alleged apathy in protection and preservation of ancient monuments of Upper Assam that belong to the golden Ahom era.

The organizations alleged that the due to the negligence of the government authorities, the historic Gargaon Kareng Ghar, the Talatal Ghar and some ancient temples were getting dilapidated. Cracks have developed in the Kareng Ghar in many places and wild grasses, trees and molasses had grown all over the premises. But the Sivasagar Archeological department had not given due attention to repair the cracks and scientifically preserve the monuments. The two ethnic organizations staged a protest against the State Archeological Department on Sunday in front of the Kareng Ghar and urged the government authorities to take necessary steps to protect and preserve the ancient monuments or the organizations would continue their agitation.
