MORIGAON: In protest against the death of SI Junmoni Rabha, the All Tiwa Students’ Union has threatened to launch a series of agitations in the district.The organization held an executive meeting at Ganesh Chandra, Senapati Bhawan, Morigaon town on Sunday.
The meeting strongly condemned the suspicious death of Sub-Inspector Junmoni Rabha of Mariklong police station in the Nagaon district and wished her soul peace and expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family. The meeting strongly condemned the alleged attempt by the Nagaon police to turn the ‘murder’ of Junmoni Rabha into an accident.
The students’ union also demanded a CBI or NIA probe into the death of Junmoni Rabha. After the discussion, a memorandum containing eight demands on schemes to be implemented in the council area was handed over to the Chief Executive Member of the Tiwa Autonomous Council. The meeting announced a series of mass movements to solve the problems of the Tiwa and indigenous communities living in Central Assam.
