Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Guwahati Friday night as part of three- day visit to Assam & Manipur. Home Minister Amit Shah will formally launch the ruling saffron party's campaign for the 2021 Assam assembly polls on Saturday.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State's Finance, Health and, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP National Vice-President and Assam BJP in-charge Baijayant Jay Panda, state party President Ranjit Kumar Dass received Amit Shah at the airport.
Over thousands of people welcomed Shah after he stepped out of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI).
During his stay in Assam Shah will distribute financial grants ranging from Rs 155 crore to 8,000 Namghars (the traditional Vaisnavite monasteries of Assam) under the Assam Darshan scheme. He will lay the foundation stones for the development of 'Batadrava Than' in Nagaon, Assam. Shah will also lay the foundation stones for the Northeast's largest medical college in Guwahati.
The Ceremonial programme for the establishment of the second Medical College of Guwahati will be held Today at Kumar Bhaskar Barman Kshetra, Amingaon, Guwahati.
This is Shah's second visit to poll-bound Assam.
The central leader will hold meetings with the Saffron party leaders of the State's Saffron party and discuss BJP's for the 2021 Assam Assembly elections.
Tomorrow (December 27) Shah will visit Imphal, Manipur where he will lay the foundation stones of the Chuachandpur Medical College, the Manipur Bhawan, Dwarka located in New Delhi, the State Government Guest House at Imphal, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Muongkhong, the Integrated Command and Control Centre City in Imphal and, the State Police Headquarters at Imphal.
