Amit Shah Reviews Indo-Bangla Border Situation In Assam, Interacts With Locals

Guwahati: The situation along the Assam-Bangladesh border has been reviewed by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah from the Mankachar sector of the state on May 9.

Shah is on a two-day visit to the state to mark the completion of one year of the BJP government in the state.

The Home Minister touched down at the Kamakhya Hilltop via a chopper earlier on May 9, after which he offered prayers at the temple there before departing for Mankachar.

Officials of the BSF and the state government welcomed him at the border outpost.

The BSF officials accompanied the home minister, who thoroughly reviewed the border situation from an observation tower which was set up for the occasion. He was also seen interacting with local villagers, who had gathered in the area.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was also present alongside the Home Minister, shared a video clip via his official Twitter handle, where Shah can be seen interacting with some locals.

Border personnel of both India and Bangladesh carried out a flag march in the presence of the Union minister.

As per reports, Shah will most likely discuss issues pertaining to infiltration, cattle-smuggling, boundary fencing, river patrolling with senior officials of the BSF at the Sadartilla camp.

Meanwhile, Shah is scheduled to attend several programmes on May 9 and May 10 during his two-day visit to Assam.

The office of the Directorate of Census Operations, Assam will also be inaugurated by him at Amingaon at 3.30 pm and he will also inaugurate the super-speciality hospital of GMCH in Guwahati.

Besides this, a public rally will also be addressed by Amit Shah to mark the first anniversary of the BJP government.
