MANGALDAI: "Of all the districts of Assam, the District Hospital of Darrang perhaps is the first and the only district hospital to execute the commendable job of making Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) mandatory for each and every patient in the emergency and outpatient department (OPD). I, on behalf of Assam Medical Service Association (AMSA), congratulate the District Administration and the District Health Department," said AMSA president Dr. Nani Gopal Saharia while talking to The Sentinel on Thursday morning.
Appreciating the timely arrangement initiated by both the district administration and the District Health Department under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah, Dr Saharia said that following the verbal instruction of Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah on August 6, RAT had been made mandatory for each and every patient attending OPD and Emergency Services at Mangaldai Civil Hospital round-the-clock from the next day on August 7. The Superintendent of Mangaldai Civil Hospital took up the initiative to implement the instruction strictly in letter and in spirit and made necessary arrangement for imparting special training for RAT to all the nurses of the hospital by Laboratory Technicians. Till date, 21 such trained nurses have been rendering their services.
"It is no doubt an excellent example of proper utilization of human resources within a short time period, that too with minimum expenditure," added AMSA president Dr. Nani Gopal Saharia.
