DOOMDOOMA: Nabaneeta Neog Baruah, a resident of Dirak Bormesai Simalugiri village of Kakapather in Tinsukia district of Upper Assam, is an example of inspiration for hundreds of women, who has put an ideal of self-reliance. Nabaneeta has been selling local chicken and ducks as a livelihood of her family of four members and helps in bringing her two children up. "For the last nine years, I have been buying local hens and ducks from my locality and selling them at Kakopothar, Rupai Siding, Doomdooma and Tinsukia town", Nabaneeta said. "When I had started my business in 2011, I used to carry the hens and ducks on a bicycle. But recently I bought a scooty with the money that I had saved from my petty business", she added.

Nabaneeta is a shining example of empowerment of rural Assamese woman. With her enthusiasm and dedication, Nabaneeta is gradually progressing in her business and thus has set an example of self-reliance for hundreds of other women. "We should not be ashamed of doing any type of work considering it as of inferior category. If we have the determination and dedication towards any work we do, we will certainly achieve success," Nabaneeta said.
