SILCHAR: Anganwadi centres in Cachar district would be rationalized, stated Social Welfare Minister Ajanta Neog speaking at a meeting with officials of the Social Welfare Department here in Silchar.

During the meeting, Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai proposed rationalization stating that the area of Lakhipur ICDS is as far as Berenga near Silchar town. Responding to the proposal made by Rai, the Social Welfare Minister said that rationalisation would be done up to that area too. Finance and Social Welfare Minister said that the MLAs were also asked to monitor the distribution of nutritious food to the children of Anganwadi Centres so that proper and efficient distribution of nutritious food could be done.

District Social Welfare Officer Saswati Som informed that for the year 2021-22, an amount of Rs 8 crore 39 lakh had been allocated for the supply of nutritious foods for the Anganwadi children.

Neog further said that a one-time pension of Rs 4 lakh would be paid as one-time pension to the Anganwadi workers after attaining 60 years of age , Rs 3lakh will be paid to workers of mini Anganwadi centres and Rs 2 lakh will be paid to the Anganwadi helpers as one time pension. Udarbond MLA Mihir Kanti Shome, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty and Cachar Deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli also took part in the meeting.
