Angry mob in Boko vandalizes house and burns car of dead woman's husband

Boko: An angry mob of Kandupur village under Palashbari police station on Wednesday vandalized Krishna Das’s house after his wife Kabita Baruah died under mysterious circumstances.

Kabita’s parents also lodged an FIR against her husband Krishna Das, sister-in-law Pabita Das and mother-in-law Putul Das and police arrested them on Wednesday and sent them to jail. But, Additional Superintendent of Kamrup Police, Sanjiv Saikia and the Officer-in-charge of Palashbari Police Station, Satendra Singh Hazari controlled the situation in Kandupur village. On Wednesday night when Kabita’s body returned from post-mortem, it was kept at Palashbari PS under the surveillance of Kamrup Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjib Saikia till late in the night in order to prevent further unrest as an irate mob of villagers wanted to cremate the body in the courtyard of Krishna’s house. Later Kabita’s body was cremated in her village Majirgaon, which was some 10 km away from her husband’s village Kandupur.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday night the angry mob burnt Krishna Das’s car which was hidden near a school in Kandupur village. Later, police rushed to the place and controlled the situation. Palashbari PS OC Satendra Singh Hazari said that police were patrolling in both villages to prevent further unrest.
