Boko: An angry mob of Kandupur village under Palashbari police station vandalized Krishna Das’s house after his wife Kabita Baruah allegedly died under mysterious circumstances. The villagers and Kabita Baruah’s parents suspect that Kabita was killed by her husband Krishna Das, his mother Putul Das and sister Pabita Das.
Palashbari Police Station officer in-charge Satyendra Singh Hazari said that on Wednesday morning, Mirza Hospital officials informed him about the incident. Meanwhile, Kabita Baruah’s parents filed a case against her husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Police have register a case 366/19 under section 120 (B), 302 against them at Palashbari police station and they were brought in for interrogation.
Hazari also added that the local people got angry after the incident and vandalized Krishna Das’s house and burnt their household goods. After getting the information, Palashbari Police and Palashbari Revenue Circle officer-cum-magistrate rushed to the place and controlled the situation. The fire was brought under control by two fire brigades. “The villagers came to know that the family had harassed and tortured her before. Police will investigate the case and after the post-mortem report comes, the cause of death will be clear,” said Hazari.
Babaita Das, Majirgaon Gaon Panchayat president, said that Kabita Baruah went back to her parents’ house few years back after she was allegedly harassed and tortured by her husband and his family. Later, they again brought her back after promising in front of her parents that they would not harass her. But they again started to torture her, she said and added that now the villagers wanted justice for Kabita Baruah who leaves behind her three children.
