GAURISAGAR: The Anjan Dutta Foundation on Sunday conferred the Anjan Dutta memorial educational trust awards amongst the meritorious students who passed in HSLC and HS exam in 2020 with flying colours under Amguri constituency.

On this occasion, a ceremonial function was held at the Thaneswar Dutta Memorial Bhavan at Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district. Tuwaram Khanikar, noted orator and former professor, Department of English in SMD College, Charing took part in the function as a guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, he stressed the value of higher education, moral degradation of the educational society and responsibilities of meritorious students for uplift of the society. At the same time, he expressed his sincere thanks to the Anjan Dutta Foundation for their noble initiative to encourage the meritorious and poor students for obtaining higher education. In her speech, Dr Angkita Dutta, elder daughter of Anjan Dutta, urged upon the student community to dedicate their life to obtain value-based education and to be careful in choosing the subject for future study.

The function was attended by Robin Hazarika, noted educationist, Suresh Borah ,social worker, and Amrita Dutta, younger daughter of Anjan Dutta, who excelled in the Combined Competitive Examination conducted by APSC, and youngest daughter Arpita Dutta. In the function, a total of 29 meritorious students were provided cheque and a citation on behalf of the Anjan Dutta Foundation. The programme started with lighting of lamp before the portrait of Anjan Dutta lit by Baloram Baruah, senior journalist of Charing.
