Annual conference of Baksa district committee of BTR Gorkha Samaj held

UDALGURI: The annual conference of Baksa district committee of BTR Gorkha Samaj was held with a day-long programme at Indralal Pathal Girls' High School, Nikasi recently.

The delegates' session was inaugurated by Kewal Khadka, the secretary of BTR Gorkha Samaj. The theme song of BTR Gorkha Samaj was released by Uttam Pradhan, the president of BTR Gorkha Samaj.

The BTR Gorkha Samaj has constituted the Tamulpur district committee with Lohit Upreti, Pradip Rai, Homlal Sarma, Kamal Ghimire, Chintamani Upadhyaya, Kamal Pathak and Rajesh Karki as members. A new committee of BTR Baksa district was also formed with Ishwar Poudel as president, Yuvaraj Karki as vice-president, Janak Bhattarai as secretary, among others.

The open session was presided over by Thaman Koirala and inaugurated by Khargaraj Rout. Uttam Pradhan, the president of BTR Gorkha Samaj, demanded the government to clear the position on D-voters and the land rights of Gorkhas in the region. Dipak Nirola, the general secretary of BTR Gorkha Samaj, cited the example of poet Gopal Singh Nepali and termed the Gorkhas as devoted to their nation. He also stated that the birth day of Gopal Singh Nepali would be observed on the banner of BTR Gorkha Samaj on August 11.
