JAMUGURIHAT: The first annual conference of Nepali Kabi Mancha, Jamugurihat, a premier literary organization of the greater Jamugurihat area was held at Gamiripal LPS with a daylong programme on Saturday. The programme began with hoisting of flag by Guru Prasad Upadhayaya followed by planting of sapling by Sal Bahadur Biswakarma and swahid tarpan by Dal Bahadur Chetry, a retired teacher in the morning. The main session was chaired by Guru Prasad Upadhayaya, president of the Kabi Manch in the chair while Chakrapani Sarma, chief secretary of the literary body briefed the objectives.
Sahitya Akademi awardee Anjan Baskota, Bhasa Gourav award recipient Dhundiraj Upadhaya, Rupam Sarma and Laxmi Maya Devi were felicitated in the meeting. Addressing the gathering Anjan Baskota recalled his literary journey and appealed the gathering to inspire and encourage the young generation writers in the field of creative writing. Dhundiraj Upadhayaya and Rupam Sarma also addressed the meeting. Chief secretary Chakrapani Sarma had read out the annual proceedings of the secretary. A new committee was formed with Guru Prasad Upadhayaya as president, Chakrapani Sarma as chief secretary, Dal Bahadur Chetry and Ghanashyam Adhikari as vice presidents, Narad Nirola and Kamal Sarma as secretaries along with fifteen executive members. A multilingual poetry circle was held after the main session.
