DOOM DOOMA: The 3rd annual meeting of the Kherua community was organised in the Doom Dooma region of the state on Sunday.

The Assam Kherua Samaj Central Committee organised the annual meeting with the support of all the district committees of the organisation. The event was arranged at the Lakhmi Mandir complex located in the Korjonga village in Doom Dooma of Assam.

Apart from the members of the central committee, representatives of all the district-level offices of the organisation also attended the event on Sunday. The local public also participated in the event in large numbers despite the rainy weather. The event started with the hoisting of the traditional flag of the organisation. Homages were also paid to the ancestors in the event, which was followed by a tree plantation program.

An open mic session was also organised to mark the occasion which was followed by an open meeting. The leaders of the Assam Kherua Samaj Central Committee addressed the public in this meeting. And the signatory of the Adivasi Peace Treaty, commander Dwipen Nayak was also present for the event. Officials of ALNA, Premjit Bhatta and Ashok Barla also addressed the gathering. The President of 36 communities in the Tinsukia District of Assam, Niren Minj also attended the meeting along with many other eminent people of the region.

The annual meeting was organised with the aim of encouraging the members of the community to be more aware of the educational, social, cultural, economic and political arenas for the betterment of the community, according to the organisers.
