Annual session held of Bishwanath District Journalists' Union

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A general meeting of Bishwanath District Journalists' Union was held at Guptakashi Bishwanath Ghat on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by Niranjan Hazarika, executive president. Niranjan Hazarika of Bishwanath, Ratul Bhuiyan of Chatia, Bhuvan Luitel of Bihali, Naren Bara, Ghankant Das and Pradeep Sharma were felicitated in the meeting. Ratan Bhuiyan, general secretary, explained the purpose of the meeting which started with a Borgeet by Zia Swargiwary.

In this meeting, a minute's silence was observed in remembrance of some of the journalists who have passed away. The meeting also demanded that the entire Bishwanath district be developed as a tourist destination with Bishwanath Ghat as the centre. The meeting stressed the importance of bringing together all the journalists of Assam under one umbrella organization.

Dr. Kishore Hazarika and Snigdha Jyoti Hazarika, directors of Green Achiana Welfare Society, were also felicitated in the meeting.
