GOLAGHAT: Gross anomalies have been alleged in the implementation of PMAY-G and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Athgaon Panchayat in Golaghat district by the All Assam Scheduled Caste Students' Union (AASCSU) Golaghat district committee.

More than hundred activists of AASCSU gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Tuesday and staged protest against alleged corruption by the Athgaon Gaon Panchayat officials in implementing government schemes. The members of the organization raised various slogans and demanded high-level inquiry into the matter.

The president and secretary of the organization, Bhrigu Kumar Das and Pronab Pratim Das said that the officials of Athgaon panchayat collected the application forms for providing LPG cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme but till now the beneficiaries have not received their LPG cylinders. Interestingly, most of the beneficiaries have got government subsidy in their respective bank accounts under the Ujjwala scheme without receiving LPG cylinders.

They further alleged that Athgaon Panchayat officials deprived the people of the Scheduled Caste community while allotting PMAY-G houses. The officials allegedly ignored the poor SC people while selecting the PMAY-G beneficiaries. In this regard, the organization submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat seeking high-level inquiry into the implementation of PMAY-G and Ujjwala scheme in the Athgaon Gaon Panchayat with an immediate effect.
