Guwahati City's Maligaon town square is once again on the radar of the Assam police for yet another instance of fake doctors being nabbed.

This time it's a fake doctor masquerading as a cardiologist. This is the second occasion in a few days in Maligaon that an imposter doctor has been apprehended by the Assam Police.

There have been multiple incidents of fake doctor scams coming to light in Assam.

Previously, it was a fake dermatologist who was arrested by the Assam Police. The accused, Amit Kumar, a Bihar native, had opened up shop at Maligaon Gate No. 1, Ulubari, and the Gauhati Club in this city. He had rooms at Tangla and Bongaigaon as well.

Kumar pretended to be a dermatologist, according to authorities. The police have taken a four-wheeler vehicle, as well as other drugs and equipment, from his rooms. He was arrested in connection with a case (640/2021) filed at the Jalukbari Police Station.

The Guwahati Police Department tweeted about two incidences of a fraudulent doctor scam.

Meanwhile, a fake medical official with a counterfeit MBBS degree was apprehended at the Mokalbari tea estate in Assam's Dibrugarh district. Simon Nag, the accused, has been impersonating Dr. Stephen Anthony since 2009 in order to get employed at several hospitals.

There have been other similar incidents reported from various parts of India.

A fruit seller was detained in the Maharashtra region of Nagpur for reportedly treating coronavirus patients under the guise of being a doctor. For the previous five years, Chaudhary also ran a nonprofit dispensary called Om Narayana Multipurpose Society, where he gave Ayurveda naturopathic therapy to patients. Taking advantage of the country's ongoing coronavirus outbreak, this imposter began treating Covid-19 patients at his clinic in Maharashtra's Nagpur district.

These latest instances of fake doctors surfacing at a time when the world is struggling with a pandemic threat require quick attention, and people must be cautious of such fraudulent activities.
