KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK, ASSAM:

Another adult Royal Bengal Tiger carcass was discovered in Assam's Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on Tuesday. The latest case reported brings the total number of tigers being found dead in the world renowned national park in the last five months to four, as per intel from the officials.

According to the officials from the National Park, the 10-day-old corpse of a tiger (sex unknown) was discovered in the Laudubi region of the Kaziranga Range.

"Due to the active decay of the carcass, no concrete conclusion of cause of death can be opined. Samples of intestine and skin have been collected for DNA and toxicological study," an official said.

"In our opinion, the probable cause of death could be natural, suspected to be infighting," the official added.

A forest guard was recently suspended for "unwarranted firing," which resulted in the June 18 killing of an estimated 10-year-old male Royal Bengal Tiger in the park. A senior park official, who refused to name the suspended forest guard, stated that he was solely supposed to safeguard houses in the neighbouring Kaziranga National Park regions. An investigation following the event by the Assistant Conservator of Forests determined that the shooting was unjustified, and the guard was suspended as a result.

On June 5, the carcass of a four-year-old male tiger was discovered in the national park's Sidha Kathoni region. According to forest officials, it was killed in a fight with other wild animals.

In February, the carcass of a female tiger cub with puncture wounds on her neck and fractured ribs was discovered in the national park. Another tiger's attack was also blamed for the tragedy.

In other national park news, the body of a Kaziranga Forester was discovered a few days ago near the Amkathani forest camp in Bagari Reserve Forest. Wahidur Rahman, who has been missing since July 6, has been identified as the deceased. According to reports, a Kaziranga forest official team visited the location where the dead body was discovered. The family also stated that despite the fact that a search operation was led by the forest security team, it was insufficient for them. Meanwhile, the deceased's family has filed a FIR, requesting an independent inquiry into the matter.
