JAMUGURIHAT: Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS), in a letter sent to the Governor of Assam demanded alternation of the examination date of Semester I and V under Dibrugarh University which has been scheduled to be held on November 15 owing to the upcoming Bhatri Dwitiya, stated a press release issued by Durga Khatiwora, president, Dr Chinta Mani Sharma, working president and Madan Thapa, general secretary of the organization on Sunday.
The release further states that there are around 25 lakh Gorkhas in Assam and the Bhatri Dwitiya festival is celebrated by the Gorkhas along with some other communities as well. Dibrugarh University is going to conduct examination on November 15, the day of ‘Bhatri Dwitiya’ for both the shifts. The signatories appealed the Governor to take necessary measures to help the Gorkha students to observe this day without any anxiety and semester loss. The letter further requested that the day, November 15, on which semester examination papers are scheduled should be conducted on another date allowing everyone to celebrate the special day. The copy of the letter was also sent to the Registrar, COE, Dibrugarh University.
