UDALGURI: The Anti-Corruption Youth Power, Assam has alleged rampant corruption in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Kalaigaon development block in Udalguri district. Dharmakanta Gogoi, the president, and Shyamanta Das, the general secretary of the organization, organized a press meet at Udalguri Press Club where they produced two deprived beneficiaries of Ranipukhuri VCDC area - Sahajuddin Ali and Isahak Ali - to narrate their stories. Sahajuddin Ali told media persons that the Ranipukhuri VCDC chairperson had taken Rs 5000 to allot house under PMAY. Later, Sahajuddin was made to sign on a blank cheque for official purpose. Official record shows that Rs 32,500 had been withdrawn. However, Sahajuddin allegedly did not get the money at all.

The Anti-Corruption Youth Power, Assam will lodge an FIR against this. Dharmakanta Gogoi has urged the State government to increase the amount sanctioned for each PMAY house. The government sanction order shows the outdated price of construction materials. The organization alleged that the PMGY Mission Director had said that 12 houses had been completed but not a single house had been completed in the area. The organization has also produced copy of an FIR lodged at Dimakuchi Police Station against these anomalies.
