DOOMDOOMA: Under the auspices of Assam Science, Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) and with active co-operation of National Green Corps, Tinsukia district, Aryabhatta Science Centre, Hapjan Block (Makum), Science for Social Welfare Assam and Saumar Bijnan and Paribesh Sangha, Makum, an awareness meeting on 'Green Diwali' was organized at Dhoedam TE Model Secondary School on Thursday.

A procession of the students was taken out on the occasion and then a symposium on the topic was held. A handbill, especially prepared with an appeal to celebrate green Diwali, was distributed among the people. Again, to create attraction towards science, the students were shown the Sun with the help of scientific instrument.

The programme, organized under the initiative of Principal Arun Sarmah, was attended by veteran social worker Jiten Sarmah, and co-ordinator, Aryabhatta Science Centre, Hapjan Block, Rajdeep Kaushik.
