Guwahati: The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has well and truly stepped into the digital age by providing aspirants with the option of being able to create individual accounts online to apply for various public service exams.
By virtue of the new recruitment portal that the Assam government launched on September 8 for the APSC, the candidates will now be able to view their performances and compare it against all the exams they have appeared for using the account.
The accounts of the candidates will store their basic information details and help them to apply for various exams conducted by the APSC. By storing basic information, a candidate shall be relieved from filling the same data again and again for multiple exams, and will also be able to make necessary challan payments online via the portal.
The recruitment portal was jointly launched by Neeraj Verma, principal secretary of the administrative reforms and personnel department, and Pallab Bhattacharyya, the chairman of the APSC. CSC SPV, an arm of the ministry of electronics and IT has designed the portal in collaboration with the APSC.
The problem of delays that arises when physical applications do not reach the commission on time due to unforeseen circumstances shall also be eliminated by the creation of this handy portal.
Other than the submission of applications, this portal has features of mobile/email validation using a one-time password, one profile, one application, online payment, online admit cards, status review, and others, which is expected to make the students' lives far easier.
As far as the APSC is concerned, the data compilation, retrieval, and processing will become easier thanks to the portal. The commission will also be able to send various notifications to candidates as or when required. The central database will help APSC to early processing of the application. In case candidates face any issues online, a toll-free number and email ID is being provided where they can contact to sort out their queries.
