GUWAHATI: Army conducted a two-week-long ‘Swachhta Campaign’ from Sept 16 to Oct 2 in Dinjan Military Station to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Soldiers, civilians, ladies, and children enthusiastically participated in various activities in the station. The campaign started with an awareness drive and pledge by children of Army Public School and DAPPS. Educational lectures for troops and children for management and segregation of dry and wet waste were also conducted as part of the campaign. The cleanliness drive was conducted by families in the entire station along with taking a pledge of saying no to single-use plastics. The campaign culminated on Oct 2, with a mega tree plantation drive, where more than 2000 saplings were planted, stated a press release.
