Mangaldai: The troops of Red Horns Division deployed in Udalguri and Darrang district to assist the civil administration in fighting against insurgency, successfully organized a day-long health check up and medical camp in a rural and remote area adjacent to Kharupetia in Darrang district on Friday.

Synchronizing with the countrywide celebration of Army Day, the medical camp was organized with the intention to reach out and provide medical treatment to people living in far-flung areas.

Army Day has been celebrated throughout the country every year on January 15 to commemorate the great historic event where the legendary General KM Cariappa (later Field Marshal) took charge of the independent Indian Army as the first Indian General on this day in 1949.

In the medical and health camp organized to mark the 'Army Day', army doctors, assisted by a team of doctors, nurses and para medicos of District Health Society, Darrang offered treatment to 322 male patients, 461 female patients and 351 children and also provided them the required medicines free of cost. The health officials also took part in an awareness drive on the need and significance of maintaining COVID protocol.
