Digboi: With Assembly elections coming closer, Michael Mandis, former secretary of BJP Yuva Marcha, Digboi and another 30 BJP Yuva Morcha members has joined Assam Jatiya Parishad.
Ahead of the elections, the Assam Jatiya Parishad launched recently has stepped up its campaign at Digboi.
The new members joined AJP at a special function held at Digboi. President of Tinsukia district committee of AJP, Anupam Dutta was present at the joining function. Dutta said that AJP is almost ready to announce a storng candidate from Digboi constituency.
Dutta stated, "Around 30 youths from BJP Yuva Marcha led by Michael Mandis, former secretary of the BJP Yuva Marcha, Digboi has joined Assam Jatiya Parishad. They joined AJP as their ideas and ideology are very similar to those of AJP. They have a lot of trust in the able leadership of Jurinjyoti Gogoi (president of AJP).
Dutta extended a warm welcome to all the new joiners and said that AJP is ready to fight the upcoming Assembly Election and are hoping for the best result.
Earlier last month (January), around 8000 people, including activists from the minority community, Congress and some AGP workers had joined AJP as the party leaders have reached out to pepole across communities through the length and breadth of the state. President Lurinjyoti Gogoi, general secretary Jagadish Bhuyan and other senior party leaders have been holding elections rallies in different parts of the state.
