Artiste Jumoni Saikia dies in a road accident in Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: Jumoni Saikia (28), an emerging artiste from Koch Gaon, Jamugurihat, died in a road accident on Saturday.

According to information, Jumoni, who was on the way to his Jamuguri home from Bogijuli; Chariduwar after attending a marriage ceremony on his motorbike, met with an accident near Mansiri on NH-15 at around 11 PM on Friday. His family members spotted him lying unconscious in a nearby ditch of Mansiri and admitted him in Tezpur Mission Hospital in the morning on Saturday. He was referred to Guwahati for further treatment. But he breathed his last on the way to Guwahati.

As news of his demise spread, people of all sections rushed to his Koch Gaon residence. Jumoni was a master trainer of dhul. He was also a bhaona artiste. He was closely associated with many cultural organizations of greater Jamugurihat. He leaves behind his wife and 18-month old child.
