HOWRAGHAT: The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) has demanded an investigation into the controversial purchase of Nambor Nadi Tea Estate owned by Namburnadi Tea Company Ltd. located in Bokajan subdivision of Karbi Anglong district, allegedly by the kin of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang.
In a press statement issued by ASDC, the party stated that the clarification given by CEM Ronghang that it was his younger brother Robiram Ronghang who had actually bought the tea estate did not hold water. ASDC also questioned that if actually Robiram Ronghang had bought the tea estate, from where did he acquire money to the tune of crores?
"It is necessary to conduct an inquiry so that the real picture surfaces. The intensity of corruption in KAAC has come to such an alarming condition that even employees of KAAC may not be able to get their salary from the month of December," the press statement stated.
