TEZPUR: Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) announced a 152-member conveners' committee of the AJP, Tezpur Assembly Constituency along with 211 members of Convener Committee of Jatiya Yuba Sakti (youth wing) and 36 members Convener Committee of JatiyaMahilaSakti in a meeting held at District Library auditorium on Sunday.
The meeting was chaired by Ashok Kumar Mahanta, Chief Convener of AJP Tezpur Chapter. Earlier, as many as 1,119 members from various political parties, joined AJP in the presence of AdipPhukan, AJP State Coordinator, and JagadishBhuyan, State Convener, Jaan Bora among others.
AJP was formed recently with the support of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and the AsomJatiyatabadi Yuba ChatraParishad (AJYCP), breakaway AsomGanaParishad (AGP) and breakaway Trinamool cadres and a section of leaders.
Speaking on the occasion AdipPhukan said that the enthusiasm with which the ruling party was creating its vote banks was missing in the case of employment generation in Assam. He also slammed the State government for its ineffective role in numerous appointment scams in the State, including the latest Assam Police SI recruitment examination scam. The scams and irregularities in appointments in various government departments, including irrigation, APDCL and the police, shows that despite its slogan of 'zero tolerance to corruption' the SarbanandaSonowal-led government has terribly failed on this front, Phukan added that If the regional parties fail to occupy Dispur in 2021, the challenges to be faced by the people of Assam will turn more disastrous.
