LAKHIMPUR: A delegation of the North Lakhimpur regional committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad, comprising of president Manoj Kalita, secretary Dibyalakhi Nath, district secretary Mobin Ahmed, academic and culture secretary Bishal Saikia submitted a memorandum to Lakhimpur District Transport Officer (DTO) on Friday. Through the memorandum, the organization demanded the DTO to control the dumpers and the tractors running with high speed in the outskirt of North Lakhimpur town for various purposes, causing threat to the human lives.
It is note worthy that most of the dumpers and the tractors have not possessed the registration numbers and taking advantage of it, some of such vehicles were potent enough to run away after knocking at the pedestrians near the Ranganadi bridge and at Joyhing Road. Though two persons of those areas lost their lives a few days back in such accident, the vehicles which caused the casualties could not be caught till the date as they were having no registration numbers.
The organization further demanded the DTO to control the minor bike riders in North Lakhimpur town. Mitigation of traffic congestion in the town is also demanded.
