DOOMDOOMA: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Tinsukia District Committee, in association with its Doomdooma, Kakapather, Dangri and Saikhowa Anchalik committees, burnt the effigies of the Prime Minister, the Union Petroleum Minister and the Chief Minister of Assam in protest against rising prices of petrol, diesel and other essential commodities, near the railway level crossing gate of the town on Friday morning.
The protesters shouted slogans against price rise and warned the government of launching vigorous movement if the government failed to check price rise immediately. "The government is totally oblivious of the sufferings of the common people because of price rise," they alleged and condemned the imprudent decision of the government in taking such steps. The programme was attended by social service secretary, AJYCP, Tinsukia District Committee, Pranab Kalita, member Babul Ahmed and others.
