NALBARI: The Nalbari District Committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) staged a protest against the failure of the State Food and Civil Supplies Department to curb the price hike of essential commodities, on Thursday.

The activists participated in a funeral rally of the Food and Civil Supplies Department. The funeral procession took place from NT Road to the Pagaldia River. “The common people are reeling under the burden of high prices of essential commodities but the government has not taken steps to check price hike,” District Committee secretary Jogesh Kalita said. Hundreds of protesters took part in the protest. Later, the symbolic body of the Food and Civil Supplies Department was drowned in the Pagaldia River.

DIBRUGARH: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) took out a mock funeral rally of Assam Food and Civil Supply minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass and the government for failing to control the sky-rocketing price rise in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

AJYCP took out the mock funeral rally from their party office and hit the streets of Dibrugarh shouting slogan against the government for failing to curb the price rise. “The BJP government has failed to curb the price rise, which has been affecting the lives of the people. Due to sky-rocketing price rise of essential commodities, the common people are facing the burnt. The government which was came to power by assuring the people of acche din, is turning their days into the worst days,” said AJYCP district president Udayan Baruah.

He added, “Food and Civil Supply Department Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass has failed miserably to curb the price rise of essential commodities. The price rise of LPG cylinders and petroleum products have hit the common people.”

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district committee of the Asom Jaityatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has flayed the Government of Assam alleging its extreme failure in controlling price hike of every essential commodity including, petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), vegetables and other grocery commodities.

As a mark of protest against the government’s failure in checking the consecutive rise of price of every essential commodity, the activists of the Lakhimpur district AJYCP took to the street with unique protest programme on Thursday. In this connection, the activists staged a funeral rally of the Supply Department as mark of protest against the issue. The protest programme was taken out from the district office of the organization and the procession covered the whole town of North Lakhimpur. During the demonstration, the protesters slammed the Government of Assam, Supply Department and the Supply Minister by shouting number of slogans.

Making a scathing attack on Supply Minister Ranjeet Dass, Lakhimpur district AJYCP president Hiranya Dutta, general secretary Diganta Bhuyan demanded that the Supply Minister should step down by owing to his failure in controlling the price hike which has burnt a whole in the pockets of the common masses. “The Supply Minister has passed his time by making ridiculous statement on political situation. He has initiated no steps to control price hike. It is unfortunate. He seems no longer competent to carry on the charge of the department. We have demanded his immediate step down,” Lakhimpur AJYCP president Hiranya Dutta said in front of the media persons.

The president and general secretary of the organization further said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in controlling the repeated rise in price of LPG cylinder has distressed the women. He just gave them a consolation only to draw their support by providing free LPG connection.” The organization demanded the Prime Minister’s intervention to check price hike.
