UDALGURI: The 48th foundation day of Asom Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS) was observed at Harisinga Junior College premises with a day-programme on Monday.
The programme began with the hoisting of the flag by Lok Bahadur Chhetry, the president of Harisinga unit of ANSS. The programme was followed by a tribute to the martyrs by Krishna Kanta Mizar, the general secretary of Harisinga unit of ANSS. The literary programme was presided over by Gayatri Bhattarai, the president of Udalguri district unit of Asom Nepali Sahitya Sabha and conducted by Ram Upadhyaya, the general secretary of the committee.
The open session was inaugurated by Bishnu Sarma Neupane, the literary pensioner. He emphasized the struggle of Nepali language movement in India. Tarapati Upadhyaya, the renowned litterateur, stressed the importance of united efforts to establish Nepali language and literature in the region. Puspadhar Bastola, the Principal of Udalguri HS School, addressed the literary session as the appointed speaker. He also urged the literary organization to mobilize the literary activities to young students. During the meeting, Lila Mishra Sundar, Tulasi Karki and Indira Gautam gave away the prizes to the winners of the online poem competition.
