Asomi Bhogali Bihu/Domachi Mela underway in Kokrajhar district

KOKRAJHAR: The Asomi Bhogali Bihu/Domachi Mela 2023 started on Tuesday at Titaguri Raja Iragdao Community Hall in the Kokrajhar district under the initiative of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM) and District Mission Management Unit (DMMU), in collaboration with the district administration, Kokrajhar.

Inaugurating the event, Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka said to the Self Help Group (SHG) members, "You go ahead with a business dream and run your group the way a company runs." She urged the women involved in the SHGs to engage in new activities instead of confining themselves to a few specific tasks.

The DPM of ASRLM informed that during the three-day-long Asomi Bhogali Bihu/Domasi Mela, which will continue till January 13, 2023, SHGs have made arrangements to sell various indigenous food items, handlooms and handicraft items. The Assamese Bhogali Mela will be open to the general public from 10am to 8 pm every day.
