TEZPUR: Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) Sonitpur in collaboration with the district administration organized a three-day Asomi Bohagi Mela at Nehru Maidan that concluded on Tuesday. It was scheduled for three days from April 1 to April 12. The Bohagi Mela was inaugurated by Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra.
About 31 outlets of self-help groups from different parts of the district participated. From the very first day, this fair has been able to get a huge public response for showcasing ethnic dresses of different castes and tribes together with different Assamese pithas and other decor items made by SHGs of the Sonitpur district. Various kinds of traditional games were hosted during the daytime and various cultural programmes were also being organized at night during the mela. The outlets of this Asomi Bohagi Mela have already set a record sale of goods worth a total of Rs 2,83,248 in the first two days, official sources said.
