ASRLM, Tinsukia organizes awareness-cum-mobilization programme

TINSUKIA: Awareness–cum- mobilization programme under PMFME was organized by Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), Tinsukia in association with AIDC, Guwahati at Golap Chandra Rabi Chandra Natya Mandir Auditorium Tinsukia on Wednesday in presence of a large number of micro-entrepreneurs.
Aimed to enhance the competitiveness of existing individual micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment of the food processing industry and promote formalization of the sector, the programme was attended by micro food enterprises promoted by ASRLM, DICC and NULM in the presence of representatives from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Citrus Research Station, AIDC Guwahati, GM-DICC, LDM-Tinsukia and CPM-NULM. The resource persons from AIDC, Guwahati elaborately presented the benefits, application procedure and other important components of the PMFME scheme.
Till date the ASRLM has proposed 169 enterprises, out of which 17 enterprises have been released seed capital amounting to Rs. 5.28 lakh.
Another 29 proposals have been approved recently under the scheme. The scheme envisaged as Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) under Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan has a special focus on supporting groups engaged in agri-food processing such as Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Producers Cooperatives along their entire value chain.
The programme concluded with a note by ASRLM seeking support from all departments concerned for preparation of a DPR for setting up of a processing unit for Assam Lemon, which has been chosen as product for Tinsukia under the 'One District One Product' with a motive to help the farmers associated with citrus cultivation in order to avoid distress sale during peak seasons.
