GOLAGHAT: A man has died in a tanker blast in the Golaghat district of the state of Assam on the morning of Saturday, December 3.

According to reports, a fuel tanker bearing registration number NL 07 AA 1350 came for routine repairs to a garage in the Bengenakhua region of the Golaghat region of the state.

The owner of the garage, Nabin Baruah was welding on the tanker when it exploded. Local people have mentioned that there was fire and a loud sound related to the incident. The owner died on the spot of the accident.

Apart from the casualty of the owner of the garage, no other injuries have been reported from the location. However, since the garage is located in a residential area, the glass panes of the nearby houses were knocked off by the blast.

The garage where the accident occurred is adjacent to the residence of Ajanta Neog. She is the MLA from Golaghat and the Minister of Finance for the government of Assam. The explosion caused minor damage to her residence as well.

The exact cause of the explosion has not been known yet, but human people are considering human error as the main reason. There is a high chance that proper cleaning procedures were ignored before the person started working on the tanker.
