GUWAHATI: 11 soap cases carrying heroin were taken by a team of Howly Police as a part of their ongoing, unrelenting campaign against narcotics trafficking. The seized drugs weighted arround 538.74 grammes.

In conjunction with the seizure and as part of its ongoing investigation, the police squad also detained two individuals.

“A team from Howly Police Station caught two people, and 11 soap cases with heroin totaling 538.74 grammes. The investigation is still ongoing. Greetings to the Howly Police Station crew”, Barpeta Police stated on Twitter.

The two people arrested had some incriminating items taken from them by the police team in the meantime.

According to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Guwahati police on 26th of February, confiscated 1.05 kg of drugs and detained three people in the city's Basistha neighbourhood.

Police stopped two vehicles in the Basistha area at Nalapara, leading to the seizure. Sarma expressed his gratitude for the Guwahati police on Twitter.

The @GuwahatiPol stopped two vehicles last night in Nalapara and Basistha and found 88 soap cases with 1.056 kg of heroin inside. Moreover, three suspects have been detained. I admire the work that @assampolice has done. Keep it up, team”, the CM of Assam tweeted.

Three drug dealers, identified as Mahan Kairi, Joynong Jugli, and Monuj Pradhan, were apprehended by the Assam Police on February 26 at Kariyapani, a location under the jurisdiction of the Lekhapani police station, and they were turned over to the Lekhapani police after being pursued by members of the public.

A cell phone, two bikes, and Rs 2,000 in cash were among the things seized, according to the police.

It is important to note that the anti-drug campaign has been underway in the state for some time, and this most recent victory demonstrates the Assam Police's dedication to eliminating the drug threat from the state.
