Guwahati: The Assam government recently announced that as many as 26 thousand posts in Class III and Class IV of various departments was made available and the response to it was nothing less than overwhelming.

As per reports, a total of 11,92,509 applicants had applied for these posts in Class III and Class IV.

As many as 6,71,805 candidates had applied for class III posts while a total of 4,43,655 candidates had applied for class IV posts. Additionally, another 77,049 candidates had applied for the post of driver in Class III.

Notably, the state government had made it compulsory for the candidates to register themselves online through the District Employment Exchange.

But, many applicants were not able to complete their registration process as a result of server issues, with the servers being down most of the time.

It particularly had a detrimental impact on candidates who hail from rural areas, where the internet connection is often not up to the mark.

It is worth mentioning that only 11 lakh unemployed people were able to register online whereas the remaining 11 lakh unemployed in the state were unable to apply for these posts. Another reason why many people were unable to register is due to anomalies in their Aadhar cards.

According to the Employment and Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training, the total number of unemployed people in Assam stands at 22 lakh.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with key officials on June 9 in order to discuss the the status of the recruitment process for Class III and Class IV positions.

The Assam CM assured that the entire recruitment procedure will be carried out in a transparent manner.

The written examination for Class IV positions will be held on August 7, while the written examination for Class III posts will be conducted on August 21.
