KOKRAJHAR: As many as 285 supporters (162 from BJP and 123 from UPPL) on Wednesday joined BPF at a joining ceremony held at Iragdao Community Hall, Titaguri near Kokrajhar. The president of BPF and former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, vice president and former Cabinet Minister Pramla Rani Brahma and senior party leaders welcomed the new members with traditional aronai and gamosa.

Talking to reporters, the president of BPF Hagrama Mohilary said that altogether 285 members of BJP and UPPL had joined the BPF on Wednesday which is a good sign for the party. He said many new members were joining day by day from various parties and organizations. He said the regular joining of new members especially from rolling parties, BJP and UPPL have proved that people are not happy with the BJP-UPPL coalition government. He said the BJP and UPPL had miserably failed to deliver their promises for which people do not want to remain with them. “I don’t know why many BJP and UPPL supporters and leaders are quiting their parties and joining BPF despite being in power both in the state and the BTC but it could be because they have failed to perform as desired by people,” he said adding that many BJP and UPPL supporters are going to join the BPF during their executive meeting to be held on November 30 at Koklabari in Baksa district and at Udalguri on December 2.

Mohilary responded, “I don't know who is Chandan Brahma,” when asked why the former Cabinet Minister and top leader of his organisation, Chandan Brahma, was avoiding BPF. He said that they had not spoken for a very long time. He however, said the BPF will come back to power with people’s support because masses are not happy with BJP and UPPL.

Vice president of BPF and former Cabinet Minister Pramila Rani Brahma said many BPF supporters left the party and joined the UPPL and BJP for different reasons but they are returning to BPF because they have failed to fulfil their promises. She claimed that despite their promises to provide government jobs to every family, the BJP and UPPL coalition government has not delivered on its promises to the public.
