DOOMDOOMA: Under the patronisation of Assam Government’s Cultural department, Asam Moran Sabha, with active co-operation of its ethnic organisations and hospitality of Sonjan Yuva Sangha, Sonjan Adarsha Mahila Samity and the local people, will centrally observe the 288th death anniversary of Bir Raghav Moran with a day-long programme at Raja Ramakant Samannya Kshetra, Dirak Sonjan on November 19.
In 1769, Bir Raghav Moran, the great hero organized the exploited and oppressed common people and led the world’s first mass revolution against the misrule of the dictatorial monarchy. Raghav Moran was a heroic fighter possessing the extraordinary organizational capability, war strategy and tactics skills, patriotism and bravery. This is a matter of pride not only for the Moran community but for the entire Assamese nation also.
This year Raghav Divas will be celebrated with the aim of introducing such a great hero to the world. The celebration will get underway first with a marathon race at 4 am organized by six organizations of the Moran community. The next programme will be inaugurated by the Xatradhikar of Bardirak Mayamara Tipuk Satra, Sri Sri Keshinath Mahanta. The flags of the Moran community will be hoisted by the presidents of their respective organisations. The next programme will be Sahid tarpan and floral tribute paying ceremony at the portrait of Bir Raghav Moran by the general secretaries of six Moran community organisations.
The next programme will be the planting of trees by local social worker Lalan Kumar Moran and the cultural procession will be inaugurated by the Satradhikar of Bardirak Sonali Satra Sri Sri Shivanath Mahanta.
