In a tragic incident, three members of the same family of Kakopathar in the Tinsukia district were swept away by the swirling water current of River Lohit while taking a holy dip at Parasuram Kund in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday morning.

TINSUKIA:  In a tragic incident, three members of the same family of Kakopathar in the Tinsukia district were swept away by the swirling water current of River Lohit while taking a holy dip at Parasuram Kund in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday morning.

According to reports, Monoj Sah, his wife Subha Sah and his mother-in-law, Nilawati Devi, along with other family members left Kokopathar for Parasuram Kund on Friday morning. While father-in-law of Monoj Sah and a child stayed back on the bank of the river, the others took steps to the Kund when a flash flood with heavy current thrusting from River Lohit swept them away.

The District Commissioner of Tinsukia, Swapneel Paul on being informed, immediately contacted his Lohit district counterpart for rescue operation. The SDRF of both the districts swung into action but the persons could not be traced till filing of this report. The brother of Monoj Sah, Omprakash Sah is a member of Kakopathar Press Club and also of Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association.
