Assam: 30 Cattle Head Seized, One Nabbed

GUWAHATI: Assam police have seized asa many as 30 cattle heads from Nagaon district on Friday. The cattle heads were transported in a truck and the driver has been arrested by the cops. As per the reports, based on a prior information, a team of Police conducted a search in the region and intercepted the truck on NH-37.

The episode took place in Nagaon's Raha area. According to police officials, the truck was approaching from Bokakhat side. The arrested driver has been identified as Ikramul Hoque. Recently, a duo was arrested for illegally trading beef in Guwahati's Six Mile area.

The episode took place in Dwarandha area of Six Mile, on 8th February, Wednesday. As per the reports, both father and the son were selling beef in the region from a very long time. The duo has been identified as Abdul Salam and Mohidul Islam. Along with fresh flesh, the police recovered 13kg of cooked beef from the accused's possession.

A case have been lodged in the nearest Dispur police unit under registration number 251/2022 and IPC section 13(1) of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act 2021, in connection with the matter. The local police accused them for carrying out the activity of trading beef in the area and breaking laws of the state.

Later, the duo was presented before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kamrup Metro. The authorities then announced 14 days of judicial custody to both father and the son. On 7th of February, Tuesday, a matter came forth where a man has been killed on the grounds of suspicion of cow theft. As many as 14 people have been arrested in connection with the issue.

The episode took place in Assam's Sivasagar district, near Bamunpukhuri tea garden. The deceased victim has been identified as Naju Ali. Naju Ali was attacked by a group of people and beaten to death. The agitated individuals thought that Naju Ali was a cow theft. However, Ali was admitted in a local hospital for medical attention, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
