TEZPUR: Radiologists from near and far gathered at Tezpur Medical College for the 49th Annual State Conference of IRIA.

The 49th annual state conference of the Assam State Chapter of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) was held from November 24 to 26 in Tezpur, which saw the inflow of radiologists from across the state and the country. The Tezpur Medical College was honoured to host this esteemed conference.

The conference was attended by more than 200 delegates who participated in various scientific sessions and workshops. The theme of the conference was “Imaging of Extreme of Ages” with the hope to focus on the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the two ends of life’s spectrum. The academic sessions covered a wide range of topics encompassing various conditions affecting the pediatric and geriatric patients. The conference featured eminent speakers from India and abroad, like Dr. Jyoti Kumar, Dr. Atin Kumar, Dr. Devasenathipathy K, Dr Bavaharan Rajalingam and Dr. Arindam Bharadwaz, who shared their expertise and experience with the audience. There was also a special Symposium session on “Degenerative Arthritis” where respected faculties from various departments discussed the clinical, pathological and management aspects of the condition.

Inaugurating the conference, Prof. (Dr.) Karuna Hazarika, Organizing Chairperson and Principal cum Chief Superintendent of Tezpur Medical College, welcomed the delegates and guests and also highlighted the importance of inter-departmental co-operation for management of various diseases. In the meeting, the legendary figures of Radiology in Assam, Prof. G. G. Ahmed, Prof. M. M. Deka and Prof. T. R. Borborah, were honoured with a lifetime achievement award. Along with them the senior radiologists from different parts of the state were also felicitated for their service to mankind. The conference was a grand success and received positive feedback from the delegates, speakers, and sponsors. The conference also provided a platform for networking and collaboration among the radiologists and other stakeholders in the field of radiology. Postgraduate trainees across the medical colleges of Assam as well as the neighboring states of Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya actively participated in the various events of the conference. The conference concluded with the valedictory function and a vote of thanks by the organizing secretary, Dr. Halimuddin Ahmed, who concluded by expressing gratitude to all the participants, organizers, and supporters of the event.
