He was transferred to the Jagiroad police station in Morigaon, which oversees Amguri, and imprisoned inside a recently built bathroom in Pranab's home. On October 10, the victim's relatives received a phone call from the kidnappers demanding a ransom of Rs 40 lakh, according to Guwahati police commissioner Diganta Barah.

Videos of Biswajit being tortured were sent to the family via WhatsApp to keep the pressure on them. He continued, "But on October 23, as the police closed in, the kidnappers executed the prisoner to wipe all evidence out of fear of being discovered.
