Hojai: A 7-year-old minor lost his life after a vehicle took place near Karipana Tinali area in Lanka under Hojai district on Monday.
As per reports, a speeding dumper rammed the boy identified as Afaz Alom when he was returning home after offering the Fajr Namaz at a nearby mosque.
After the incident, the police seized the dumper truck bearing registration number AS-02CC-9663, however, the driver managed to escape before he could be caught.
In this regard, a case of the hit-and-run case has been registered against the driver.
Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched by the police to nab the driver.
In April this year, another minor identified as Kangkan Saikia was killed in Assam's Nagaon after a bike on which he was travelling crashed into a roadside tree.
The incident took place on Friday 22 April in the area near Premeshwar Primary School located in Kamrup in the Nagaon district of Assam.
According to the locals of the area, the minor boy was studying in class 9 at the Sankardev Vidya Niketan high school in Nagaon.
The boy was reportedly riding a bike at a very high speed and was met with the accident after the two-wheeler hit a tree. Before he could be shifted to a hospital the victim died on spot after sustaining severe injuries to the head and other body parts.
Upon receiving the information of the same, police reached the spot and took the dead body under their custody.
Locals also said that the bike Saikia was riding did not belong to him instead he has borrowed it from someone else for fun. They also claim that he was roaming in the area for a long time since morning and was riding at full speed.
Notably, numerous road accidents similar to this occur regularly in different areas of the district and across the state. Several cases report people getting injured severely and also losing their lives.
Road accidents mainly take place due to the reasons such as overspeeding, neglecting traffic rules, driving in inebriated conditions, and others.
