Assam: 750 litres of diesel brought from Bhutan seized

Based on information, the 6th Bn SSB deployed along the Indo-Bhutan border on Tuesday seized 750 litres of diesel from a vehicle with Bhutan registration number at No. 2 Khagrabari near the Bhutan border and apprehended two persons along with a pick-up van.

KOKRAJHAR: Based on information, the 6th Bn SSB deployed along the Indo-Bhutan border on Tuesday seized 750 litres of diesel from a vehicle with Bhutan registration number at No. 2 Khagrabari near the Bhutan border and apprehended two persons along with a pick-up van.

Sources from SSB said that the patrolling team of D Coy of Dadgiri and BoP of Aie Poally stopped a Bhutanese pick-up van bearing no. BP/2B5009 loaded with 15 gallons of diesel. The gallons had 750 litres of diesel. The patrolling team asked for proper documentation. The driver was unable to provide any relevant papers after which the vehicle was seized and the driver apprehended.

The apprehended persons were identified as Bijay Narzary of village Khagrabari in the Chirang district, and Subhash Rai (26), son of Partap Singh Rai of village Dragchhu under Gelegphu PS of the Sarpang district of Bhutan. Sources also said the seized items, including the pick-up van, could be worth Rs 2,15,000. The seized items and apprehended person had been handed over to Land Custom Dadgiri, near the Bhutan border.
