Golaghat: At least nine children fell ill on Wednesday after they had their mid-day meal in Assam's Golaghat district.

As per reports, the incident took place at Bengenakhowa Primary school in the district where these students study.

Following the incident, all of them were immediately shifted to Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital for medical attention.

However, the exact reason for the same is yet to be ascertained.

In April this year, at least four people lost their lives after consuming poisonous mushrooms in Assam's Dibrugarh district.

According to reports, on April 7, a family had eaten unknown mushrooms after which they fell sick and later on shifted to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh for treatment.

During the treatment, four of them died while the others were in critical condition for a few days.

The deceased were identified as Junali Praja, Rima Karfmakar, Chayanika Karmakar and Ajoy Karmakar.

They all were residents of Sonari's Lalipathargaon.
