TINSUKIA: A woman and a minor girl succumbed to their injuries following a fire incident that occurred at a noodle manufacturing plant at Doom Dooma under Assam’s Tinsukia district on Monday.

Rita Kumari and Ayushi Choudhury have been identified as the deceased woman and the minor girl respectively.

While Rita Kumari was named as an employee of the factory, the deceased minor girl was said to be the daughter of the factory owner, according to sources.

Apart from the deaths of the duo, another woman was also reportedly injured in the fire incident. All the three injured were admitted to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) following the inferno and were undergoing treatment.

However, on Tuesday morning the minor girl and the woman succumbed to their injuries sustained in the fire.

The incident of fire reportedly occurred at a noodle factory located at Talap Bali Baazar locality of Doom Dooma on Monday evening.

Local residents and fire tenders were fortunately able to douse the fire successfully before it could further spread to other properties nearby.

Earlier, on April 20, a massive fire broke out at Dakhin Chenimari in Assam’s Laharighat town, gutting at least five residences, police sources informed.

However, prompt action by the local people helped to douse the fire to some degree before the fire tenders reached the spot.

Meanwhile, the agitated locals created a scene in the area and pelted stones at the fire tenders for reaching the spot late.

Sources informed that the damage to the fire tenders were quiet extensive. However, the local police personnel reached the spot immediately and managed to control the situation.

While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, an investigation is underway. The affected families have been badly affected, and efforts are being made to provide them with assistance and support.

On April 15, a massive fire broke out at a residential building in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

The fire was reported at Raj Tower building at Siraputty in Tinsukia.

According to sources, the fire first broke out from the security guard’s room of the building, and a burning candle allegedly led to the eruption of the major fire.
