Guwahati: Amid the ongoing pandemic, the Assam Education department has decided to conduct all admissions to the state universities, Government colleges, and technical institutions only in online mode for the academic session 2020-21. For admissions, all required documents will need to be scanned and uploaded by the students on the website of the concerned institution.
Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma convened a meeting earlier today with the Principal Secretary of Education as wells as the Principals of colleges to ensure the "smooth" implementation of the Government's new scheme.
This year, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, all admissions to state's Universities, Government Colleges, provincialized colleges under Directorate of Higher Education, Assam, and all institutions including the Engineering and Polytechnic under Directorate of Technical Education, Assam, will be conducted online for the forthcoming session.
According to a notice issued by Preetom Saikia, the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Higher Education Department, mark sheets, certificates, and all other relevant documents will be scanned and uploaded for the admission process and concerned authorities will verify the authenticity if need be. For admission, the students have to upload bak details including IFSC code, bank name, and branch, and mobile number while applying for admission to avail the benefit of schemes like scholarship, reimbursement of hostel mess dues, textbook grant, etc from the Government.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Government of Assam has waived off all fees of admission, examination, laboratories, excursions, registrations, prospectus, etc for 2020-21 in view of the pandemic that has badly affected the economy.
