JORHAT: The Jorhat District Agriculture Department, in collaboration with the Agricultural Trade and Rural Transformation Project (APART), organized on Monday the 'Agri Value Chain Financing Conclave' at the Jorhat Theatre Hall in order to bridge the knowledge gap and introduce appropriate financial instruments to propagate the provision of financial services in the agricultural sector.
The District Agriculture Officer, Tanay Jyoti Gogoi, spoke about the meeting's objectives and encouraged the FPOs in attendance to share the day's information with their peer farmers. Nitin Singh, the Financial Services Specialist from ARIAS-APART, discussed the Xamahar project, detailing its offerings and provisions tailored for Assam's FPOs and farmers. The conclave highlighted recent developments in agricultural finance and promoted various value-chain financing options, including working capital, term loans, insurance, social security schemes, and digital financial literacy.
Notable attendees at the conclave included District Nodal Officer (APART) and Senior Agriculture Officer of Jorhat, Rupam Kakoti; SBI Chief Manager of Jorhat, Nandita Dutta; APART Nodal Officer from the Department of Animal Husbandry; and other dignitaries who provided insightful presentations for the FPOs and farmers.
The central part of this conclave is the 'Xamahar' initiative, under which APART has collaborated with financial service providers to deploy various innovative business models and instruments for delivering financial services to empower those involved in the agricultural value chain.
