Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) organizes grand harvest programme

GOALPARA: The Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART), under the Horticultural Research Station, Kahikuchi, Guwahati, organized a grand harvest celebration programme at Kalyanpur, Goalpara recently.

The event was marked by the presence of more than 120 participating farmers, besides the chief guest AK Rasheed Alom, MLA, Goalpara East, Ranjit Konwar, ADC, Nayan Kumar Bora, DAO, Deepak Kumar Nath, chairman of District Development Authority.

Explaining the purpose of the programme, Dr Pramod Deka, Principal Scientist, Horticultural Research Station, explained the importance of Farmer Producer Company (FPC/FPO) and its role in farmers' livelihood. In the event, the other respective faculties discussed the benefits of traditional farming methods and scientific methods of farming, along with mechanization.

AK Rasheed Alom, the chief guest of the event, graced with mechanization in regard to changes in the agricultural scenerio. At the end of the programme, the Multi Crop Harvester provided to Marukshetri Farmer Producer Company was inaugurated by the Department of Agriculture officials, followed by a demonstration in the field. Nayan Bora himself demonstrated the Multi Crop Harvester and briefed the benefits of the machine so that it enables the farmers to harvest rice in less time and less cost.

The event was attended by International Rice Research Institute seed specialist Neeraj Kumar Tyagi along with Dr. Samiran Pathak, former chief scientist Dr Ayub Ali Ahmed, Block Development Officer Amanullah Ahmed, Nodal Officer APART, Goalpara Wahid Ahmed and Kahikuchi Scientists and APART officials.
